Hakuoki: Chronicles of Wind and Blossom

I have started a new Otome game, and this time it's a classic - Enter Hakuoki: Chronicles of Wind and Blossom! When I saw the limited edition preorder pop up a while ago, I bought the game on a whim.

Sure, dating ninjas in Nightshade was fun, but now the time for dating samurai and a subsequent Japanese history lesson is in order.

The love interest cast is massive! So many options to choose from. My fiancé certainly knows quite a few of the familiar names from the Shinsengumi. I wasn't sure who to pick, but as with other game of this nature, I do an organic playthrough with the choices I want first before focusing on the routes of the other love interests.

In my first ~natural~ playthrough, I managed to get ensnared by... Hachiro Iba!

To be honest I wasn't sure who I was falling for - but MC's first encounter with Iba-san at the sweets shop and her description of him made him stand out among the rest. He has a very... Simeon-like quality, and a the same sweet smile and soft-spoken voice.

AND WOW I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! I ended up getting a demon-armed boyfriend... Ibaraki-Doji style? 

Hahaha, well, I'll update as things progress.

New Mission!

We've started on a journey to grind back our achievements in the JP version of Touken Ranbu, as the English version is terminating service at the end of August. We must rebuild!

Sadge because Matt just came back from his kiwame and he looks... different, it's not his iconic outfit but still very regal.

He came back only to leave me--so I thought--but he came home really early in the JP version, so for that I am eternally grateful to RNGsus.

Now, if only TK would stop being so stubborn and come home as well. I keep pulling all these other 3:20 forge time Tachis and not my own son? 

Desire Sensor x Naginata of Choice

Oh my gosh I cannot believe I finally managed to forge SHIZUKAGATA NAGINATA! 

I've been forging for weeks now. I don't know exactly for how long, but trust me when I say that all my resources, specifically whetstone, were extremely depleted.😤

I absolutely love his VA and he is so polite. I value characters who have good manners. Plus, HULLO?! WHAT IS HE WEARING--??? IT'S HOT?!

His damaged art makes me feel dirty HAHAHA but it's not like we can look away? It's like, art purposefully drawn to be suggestive. And NO, I am not posting it here!!! (OK maybe sometime but not now.)

Anyway, it happened to be the birthday of a character named Barbatos in the 'Obey Me!' game series. Since we call Shizukagata by the nickname "Barbatos Abs" (they do have a bit of a similarity), perhaps it was a catalyst. Or maybe just the Fuji I got from completing the event missions. Who knows??

I can't wait to kiwame him, he's risen to the top of my fav list in a very short time. Can't wait!💕

Saniwa Style!

"Hahahaha, aren't you touching too much?"

Oooooof I've been really submerging myself into Touken Ranbu's universe. As a saniwa of the Touken Danshi, I am thinking I need my own MC design to really elevate the experience. TouRan doesn't give too much of a storyline at all, and the game can be quite repetitive and dry. So I might as well provide my own backstory.

Unlike the canon anime, my saniwa will be female. She's from the future, in the year 2205! Here is the description of the game taken from Johren's official website:

The year is 2205. Revisionists seeking to change history have begun to attack the past. The "Saniwa", who has been given the task of protecting the history, heads back in time with "Touken Danshi", the fabled swords that have taken the forms of powerful warrior.

Sooo obviously, she has magical abilities befitting of the role. I will say that she comes from a family of renowned sages and landed her role working with the government due to high recommendations from family friends. She is jaded and serious and likely suffered some sort of trauma growing up. She definitely isn't one that opens up very easily...

Baby's Birthday

Simeon's birthday is on Feb 10th!!! The week long event celebration started yesterday and I am OVER THE MOON!!! MC and Simeon get matching teacups because Simeon asked for his gift from MC to be "something matching" that they could use together. AND THEY SHARE THEIR FIRST KISS EVER LOL!!! OOOOOOF it was rather unclimactic OVERALL but my heart still exploded. it was a big deal. i'm hoping that the Devilgram stories carry me a little further into my fangirl fantasies haha.

Denial River

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA for the past 2 nights I've had dreams pertaining to Obey Me! I'm totally obsessed, that even my unconscious self can't help but fangirl over this game. I dreamed about Leviachan, and Asmo-chan, with a cameo from Belphie. Totally crazy, eh?

IN MY DREAM WITH LEVIATHAN, we were in the same class, except our desks were in front of supermarket freezer doors.  i took up the space of 3 freezer doors, so i had to throw stuff away and downsize since we were all allowed the storage space of one freezer door. LOL.

anyway, he couldn't believe that i would want to sit next to him, and i was showing him this magical girl anime i really liked. some people from my workplace were in the dream too. anyway, he was super happy and i remember leaning against him as we watched the show and he even gave me this peck on the lips with a huge blush on his face, i'm surprised he didn't just faint. it was super cute and sweet!

last night's dream featured Asmo and i going to a concert, and we were the only ones in the front left row. the singers were performing a duet song in latin! and for some reason, my cousins chloe and clement were in the row behind us. i snuggled up next to Asmo and linked our arms together, and it felt really cozy. but whenever we stood up we would trip and fall all over each other, much to the amusement of the row behind us. 

Asmo was super sweet in my dream, he gave me a kiss and promised that he'd show me to the best night ever at the after party, but that he had to go home first and pick out something to wear. he said he already ordered some new clothes and had to go accept the package. BUT, he also knew Belphie was looking for me because he was jealous that I was going to the event with Asmo and not him... eep! But anyway, getting to see a show with Asmo was pretty surreal. In the dream, we were literally around the same height, HAHAHA!

About Belphie

☆Planetarium Belphie☆

Many Obey Me! fans dislike Belphie because in the main story arc, he does something unforgivable that gets brushed over by either messy writing/translation or a lack of further plot development. I was shocked and also thought the devs should have wrapped things up better, but keep in mind this is a mobile game and not a full-fledged RPG. Mind you, I know that isn't much of an excuse, but think of it like comparing FE Heroes to an actual FE RPG installment. It's like comparing ants to elephants! Anyway, I'm writing this because I read a post asking why Belphie stans like him, and well, let me count the ways, lol!

Firstly, I preface this by saying that Belphie is not my fav akuma boi, my fav is PROBABLY Stan. (Yes, Stan.) But there are moments where Belphie outshines Stan for me, and this post isn't really about Stan.

My Reasons!!!

• He's a cute baby boi, the youngest brother. Everyone babies him, and I'm no exception.

• He actually gets character development and a backstory, which is more than most of the other brothers get.

• After the incident, and in all side stories, he's an openly affectionate character that communicates what he wants. Like wanting to cuddle and nap together, visiting events together, telling you when something feels good, etc. He is very sweet and direct. For me, I find that incredibly endearing. No, I don't want Mammon to wait for me to ask him to the dance (although I do like Mammon), I want a boi who asks me to the dance and says how happy he is that I said yes, then asks me if he can sleep in my bed and stroke my head until I fall asleep... which perfectly segues to my next point 

• I LOVE sleeping. My bed is probably my fav place to be, and I love relaxing on the couch and being lazy. I often think about how nice it would be to cuddle Belphie and, since I get cold easily, he would double as a body pillow and heater! Taking naps with him is probably a huge selling point for many fans.

• He's bratty, but he's also clever and intelligent. Not only is he capable of planning and executing long-term evil plots, but he does well in school. His good grades seem effortless, since he's always sleeping (LOL)

• He seems so comfy... I just wanna curl up and take a catnap... maybe sleep the whole day away... yawn, I feel his lifestyle calls out to me.

• I love his horns, they're my fav design even though I don't particularly like his demon form design in general. Hey, he's a cow and I'm a sheep--we might be compatible!

Those are the majority of my reasons. Meh, I forgive him for what he's done. It isn't his fault he's an akuma!


Tl;dr I like Belphie because he's cute, affectionate, and perfect for taking naps with.

Obey Me! - Brainstorming

Welp, at the influence of my longtime friend I've picked up another mobile game called "Obey Me!" It's literally about a human going into the demon realm, called the "Devildom", to become an exchange student in a school. Oh, and there's hot demon anime boys. My friend is like, super obsessed with this game and I'm trying to ride the coattails of this enthusiasm so I can enjoy writing and roleplaying again, too.

So far I have an A/U plot, and have made up some OC's. Lol.

Driftwood

Mornings have been exhausting these days; I'm on a string of 7AM starts, and while the workload once I arrive at the office is light, I feel like a deflated helium balloon. Looking over my schedule, I need to tighten the reins on my punctuality. I've been late a couple times and taken more sick days than preferred. Going forward, I'll strive to wake up earlier and become more accountable.

I need to kick my own butt in being more active as well. I've definitely gained weight, and while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, I feel the difference and it makes me sluggish. Still, I would rather curl up in bed playing Pokemon Sword for hours than drag myself outside or to the gym. Baby steps, right? Baby steps.

Speaking of Pokemon, the new game is everything I could ask for. I was skeptical at first, given how lackluster I found Let's Go and even Sun/Moon to be, but wow - I'm singing Sword and Shield's praises. I can imagine heading over to the Galar region to visit. Thoughts are swirling, especially regarding that charming dragon gym leader, Raihan... AHHHHHHHH, what is this?!

Apathetic Curse

I've been playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses extensively over the last couple weeks and I've been finding it super fun. I'm enraptured by the charming male characters in the game - that never ceases to please. My favourite characters are Dimitri, Felix, and Ashe - not necessarily in that order, but all three of them really glowed up over the course of the game and all three have their own distinct charms.

Still, as I play through this game I find myself 50/50 about my investment level compared to Awakening or Fates, which I've replayed several times. It's a good story, and the gameplay is fluid and easy to manage, however I find myself less enthused about many things as I've grown older.

For instance, I fangirled HARD over Sacred Stones and replayed the heck out of that game when I was younger. When I compare my enjoyment of FE now on a gaming console with better graphics to the 8-bit games of old, I somehow feel apathetic about the games now. They capture my attention for a brief time, like a cheap thrill, but at the end of the day the impact on my creativity is minimal. I suppose that's the way of things, now.

Many people look out for me. Friends, colleagues, family. And yet, I feel...

Onmyoji Karin!

Ahh, I am obsessed with another lottery-style mobile game. Move over FEH, now it's time for me to be obsessed over Onmyoji.

Set in a fantasy feudal Japan, this game has incredible character designs and artwork. I'm still figuring out the game mechanics but only after 5 days of playing I've already pulled an SP and 2 SSR shikigami!!!

Idle Status

Been playing a lot of Fire Emblem Heroes, as usual. I truly love Fire Emblem as a franchise and vividly remember sitting in the hallways at lunchtime when I was in elementary school, plugging away at FE8: Sacred Stones on my Gameboy Advance. I was around thirteen years old then.

Now, at twenty-seven, I still love the characters more than ever. And I've been thinking about whether or not to 5* Naesala, the raven king. I do like him, but I'm unsure of how much I like him. I've saved up 200k hero feathers, and occasionally spend them on merging units that I'm working on (cough, L'Arachel, and Olivia - haha).

The top characters I use in FEH are:

Celica - This nuclear princess wrecks everything with her destructive Ragnarok build! And she's gorgeous to boot!
Nowi - I decided to +10 her as +ATK -HP, and she's my best distant defence unit.
P!Azura - Her personal weapon's effect and her colour typing makes her a great support, coupled with Wings of Mercy 3/Drive Res 2/Drive Def 2.
Fallen Robin (M) - I normally dislike armoured units because of their movement limitation, but because I was blessed with a perfect IV +ATK -HP Grima, I invested in him and he's quickly become a team staple. My impatience is curbed by the Armoured Boots seal, although that slot could be utilized better with another seal.
Summer!Takumi - His summer attire and firesweep bow are a match made in heaven. The kinshi is the cherry on top.
NY!Azura - A refresher with access to flier buffs - 'nuff said!

Runner up: Adrift Corrin (M), which is basically a weaker Nowi sub in chain challenges. (Harem pants, harem pants! Drea~am prince~!)

I have to say, Summer!Takumi with Firesweep Bow+ and flier buffs absolutely destroys opponents. I don't regret sacrificing my merged, perfect IV Innes to him, since I had long ago foddered Faye to Innes. I rarely used Innes, and do have other copies of him, but it was a sacrifice that had to be done for the greater good. Sometimes life is about making those difficult choices! 😂

Fangirl: Phase II

OK, so I took a mini-hiatus from one of my long-time favourite games, FIRE EMBLEM: HEROES. And I guess I did this because it just wasn't interesting anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so for a while I played other games, but recently two friends have been updating me on the new stuff in the game so I popped back in to take a look.

The new banner is some sort of "dream" banner where l'il Azura dreams up her family members and dresses them in her style of clothing. LOL, right? I really don't like the outfits, personally. So I'm not tempted to reward IS with any real money. But at the same time, I'm not going to turn down MAIPONPON's art of Corrin in harem pants... hahaha!

HeeEEEEeeellOOooOOOo, yeeee boi gimme some fanservice.
Since FEH is a "horny casino" pandering mainly to the male gaze, it's refreshing to see some of it for women...like me...
Heh... ...What??? 

That and, did you know I actually had a dream about Corrin a while back, albeit in a different outfit? *screams* So uhhh... I'm reverting back to my fangirl ways to obtain whatever shred of motivation I have to create things. Because original content is so far behind me now, ha-ha.

What else did I want to say... Well, I'm at work right now and I am hella tired. So tired. My brother spent the night talking on the phone and despite my protests, he was really loud. So, I'm running on coffee and reserve energy until I can go home in... LOL, I've barely been at the office for an hour.

Someone help. Lol. *struggles*

FE Fangirl

Another Tuesday! Hello, blog.

I finally obtained a Nintendo Switch and Fire Emblem Warriors! My father and mother bought it for me for Christmas. I spent a night playing it until 6AM, and I'm in love with the characters more than ever.

Takumi is a bad-ass. So proud of that little grumpy bean; his gameplay with Fujin Yumi is intense! He's so cool. I was under the impression archers were passive and not very strong, but playing as Takumi really laid all that to rest. Wow!

And Robin... Wow I never thought he was even attractive until this game. Especially when he smiles; I can see why everyone falls in love with the avatar LOL. This is dangerous. And my, him and Chrom's support conversations? Brothers 4 Lyfe!

Speaking of Chrom, I'm low-key/high-key checking out his muscular, sculpted arm. Haha. What's with characters and only wearing a sleeve on one side? *cough*Cloud*cough*. No matter, Chrom is an awesome character and a really swell, decent guy!

I haven't gotten too many hours out of this game, but it certainly has enabled more fangirling/fanwomaning on my part. Waaaahh... ♡♡♡

On the side of reality, my friend booked her flight to L.A. and I need to follow suit soon. I spent the whole night browsing Airbnbs and I'm unsure whether we should stay in downtown or closer to my friend's house. I'm so stoked for a getaway during spring break. I've been feeling dejected all the time over many things. I can't wait to lounge on the beach and tan my sorrows away.

Animal Crossing + Life

I've been trying to blog more but I never seem to have any time for myself. Hardly any time. Each day is filled with gruelling work, and now school has started. Class again tomorrow. I'm going to polish myself up and get going~~ <3 No low goals for me, gotta shoot for that A+ and look like a star doing it. ;)

Today I met a nice girl from work. She was very sweet and talkative, and she works at the Lego Store in Oakridge Centre. We exchanged contact information and perhaps we will meet up for coffee/BBT and study together. I don't know yet, but since my life has been a stagnant pool of water lately, it couldn't hurt to deviate from the normal routine. Just been hard to find time to do that...

On the AC:NL note, I finally got my dear little princess Crown!

My frog villager Henry asked to buy the BB shirt I actually bought for Shan... LOL! He even self-invited himself to my home, and then proceeded to gift me a painting (even though it turned out to be a fake). What a generous villager. He's always sweet to me! Looks aren't everything after all I suppose! And who knows, maybe he will turn into a charming prince sometime! ;)

Today I finished the last exam for the semester. I should be feeling happy, but I don't. Usually us students can't wait for the semester to end, but I actually enjoyed listening to the professor and cracking jokes with my classmate Lilian. "Earbasher" and "The guy who spent all his money on tattoos so he couldn't afford Tim Hortons" and the long lost "Fauxberry"!!! I'm terrible for making fun of my classmates, haha--☆

I picked up the package containing my first ever Antique beasT headdress and another AP blouse. I have quite the blouse collection now, but I think I need more accessories. I am an occasional lolita, but I'm proud of that and I don't want to give that up for anything. 

I've actually been looking into purchasing from some indie brands. I missed out on Baroque's "Pearl Drops on Dry Flowers" and also Haenuli's "Royal Kitten", but hopefully something will catch my eye soon. In the meantime, I'll be patient.

That's all on the school and lolita front, but on the Be My Princess front, there are new developments. I finished off Joshua's story and started playing Wilfred's... I wasn't too impressed by his storyline actually.

For one thing... He's kind of a pervert...

They all look the same, don't they? Not that I'm complaining!!! Just the way I like 'em!

Anyway... Wilfred's storyline is pretty weak compared to Joshua's. Joshua's storyline had political issues between countries, a rival prince, and a butler that was actually nice. Claude is a little b*stard!!! And I guess I preferred how stiff and formal Joshua was, even though that was borderline rude -- at least he behaved in a proper way. Wilfred just seems pretty lonely and... I don't know, too forward!!!

Well, I did enjoy the cute moments from his route. He's basically another prince that envies the regular life, and acts all formal and expressionless because that's his job and swallows all his inner feelings and junk. He's more touchy-feely than Joshua, and definitely more polite at first.

...Why am I analyzing his personality, anyway? Maybe because this is fun for me, haha.  A lot of my princess mates like Wills, but I definitely prefer Joshy-poo!

Thanks for visiting, you should definitely play BMP if you're into otome games, because you won't regret it. I don't. (Haha!)

Be My Princess: Joshua

For the past couple days, I've been playing a game on my phone called "Be My Princess".  This is an otome game and somehow this has become my guilty pleasure to pass the time...

Basically the storyline goes as follows: you are an aspiring young designer, and you miraculously got accepted into a famous fashion label house; I think the designer label name is "Jean Pierre". This somehow leads to you designing outfits for a big fashion show in which six princes from six different countries attend. You somehow become a designer for one of the princes of your choice... because your designs are just that good.

I think I butchered the storyline there, but the jist is apparent! And although all the characters are charming and I was stuck between Prince Wilfred and Prince Joshua, of course I ended up picking Prince Josh because he's so cute, and because his name is Joshua!  He's the prince of Dres Van Kingdom.

Actually, the blond-haired Prince Will is also very charming, much more polite and charming than Joshua. All Joshua really does is insult the MC and... act all pompous and annoying! But slowly he becomes more and more sweet, until he's so attached that he's practically your little puppy dog. Ha-ha...! Tsundere characters like this, I never really liked but I suppose one every once in a while is good.

Can't wait to play Wilfred's storyline but I think for many obvious reasons, Joshua will remain my favourite for sure. 

My little house is so crappy but~~ even these tiny sprites are so cute. (I have visitors whenever Joshua is over, for some reason. These are other princesses playing the game~)

Hope more people can play this adorable game with me, but I understand only a particular type of character would enjoy games like these (laughs). Here are some screenshots:
