Stuff

Keisho glanced up from his textbook at exactly five minutes past the hour and saw that a certain blue-haired friend was not seated in the row across from him.

“It figures,” he murmured to himself, resting his head on his palms. “I doubted that girl could handle university life on top of the work that we’re doing.”

He was half right.

Back at her apartment, Lena was buried deep underneath her blanket and a pile of pillows. The alarm had gone off at least seven times, and each time, she swatted away the flashing holographic numbers without a care.

The door creaked open, and Kashuu poked his head in.

“You’re late for school,” he announced, matter-of-factly.

He padded across the wooden floorboards to the window and pulled open the curtains. A blast of golden sunlight illuminated the room, and Lena instantly drew the covers tighter around her.

Kashuu plopped down onto the floor beside the futon. Crossing his legs, he pushed aside the pillows until he could see her face. He frowned when he noticed the circles beneath her eyes appeared darker than the night before.

“What’s wrong?”

She glared up at him, unblinking, before letting out a heavy sigh.

"It's nothing. You know, human stuff."

Kashuu's brows furrowed. Hearing her words made him feel useless, and he never liked feeling that way when it came to his master.

He cleared his throat. "I can try to understand, if you would care to elaborate?"
